About the Collective

Rain (RIGHT AIDS Interfaith Network) is a program which enables volunteers working in Care Teams to live out their faith in service to persons living with the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) caused by the Human Immune-deficiency Virus (HIV).

To develop an informative and compassionate response to HIV/AIDS for individuals in Churches, Synagogues, Mosques, and in the communities. RAIN seeks to accomplish this by:
Providing AIDS educational programs that dispel the myths and fears associated with AIDS.
Offering services to persons living with HIV/AIDS by way of Care Teams.
Networking with other Social Service Agencies to more effectively coordinate efforts at combating AIDS.

A Care Team is a group of 4 to 6 volunteers trained to give practical support services to a Partner
(person living with AIDS) and to his/her family or caregiver.
Care Team members may assist their partners with:

Transportation
Light Housekeeping and Laundry
Meal Preparation
Shopping
Social visits and settings
Emotional Support
Non-medical Care

With help from his/her Care Team, a Partner can usually remain home longer in the final stages of AIDS.

Volunteers are required to undergo 6 hours of initial Care Team training, Workshops conducted by area professionals, focus on basic AIDS education, home care and infection control, psychosocial issues and spiritual considerations.
How much time is required to serve on a Care Team?
Partner services are divided into manageable task time frames. These are then assigned to specific team members based on their available time.
